We all know that most of our backcountry trails are supported by ‘someone’, but getting to see trail maintenance up close and personal really puts things in perspective. In the Roan Mountain area along the A.T. we watched as volunteers removed large boulders and trees that blocked the path due to erosion, storms, or other natural intervention. In the Eastern Sierra Mountains, we passed a train of horses and mules bringing materials into the wilderness for bridge maintenance.
So who are these ‘behind the scene someones’? Amazing non-profit organizations like the Pacific Crest Trail Association, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Tahoe Rim Trail Association, and a slew of others! Groups like these dedicate their time and energy into maintaining our backcountry trails every day. Whether out in the field digging reroutes, or hammering the phones asking for donations…these folks deserve more than they receive.
So, Thank You to all the hardworking men and women who dedicate their time and energy into maintaining our trails. As a small token of our appreciation, Ever Green Adventure Foods will be donating a portion of our profits every year to the organizations that directly align with our message.
